Watch Bolton vs Manchester United online

United are seeking their first away win of the season when they travel to the Reebok stadium today buoyed by the storming form of Dimitar Berbatov. His inspired performances lately have put a shadow on the permanent limelight that's on Wayne Rooney and if he finds his spark again today Bolton will be in for a torrid afternoon.

Kevin Davies and Jussi Jaaskelainen return to the Bolton team after missing the Burnley game in midweek but Andy O'Brien is still out with an ankle injury, so Sam Ricketts is likely to fill his shoes. Rio Ferdinand should be back in the United team after making it through the Carling Cup against Scunthorpe on Wednesday. Michael Carrick, Antonio Valencia and Owen Hargreaves are all set for a long wait for return. United will be looking to take advantage of Chelsea's slip up yesterday and want to be breathing down their neck with a win today.

The game will available to view in a stream online on various websites. Just search for it and you should find it playing somewhere.

Owen Hargreaves is close to giving Sir Alex a problem

Owen Hargreaves is close to giving Sir Alex a problem

Owen Hargreaves is back training after a very lengthy battle with injuries and he is close to giving Sir Alex Ferguson a problem when deciding his team. Hargreaves had had niggling injury issues regarding his knees since the start of the 2008-09 season and has made only a couple of first team appearances since then.

Sir Alex said in a MUTV interview:"Owen has come back training, he trained yesterday with the first team. He looked very good. I was surprised actually how good he was looking. It's an extra string to our bow. After being out for so long, we'll have to monitor him and see how he progresses in the next few weeks. But it's good to see him back. Because he's been out for so long you have to see whether there's going to be a relapse. That's the first thing on our mind. But having watched him in training, if he continues that way he's going to give me a selection problem."

Sir Alex's absence from United game explained

Sir Alex's absence from United game explained

Sir Alex Ferguson wasn't present for Manchester United's game at Schunthorpe last night and relied on assistant manager Mike Phelan to take over the reigns. Phelan revealed that it was because the boss was away scouting Valencia, United's next opponents in the champions league.

Unai Emery's side have started the season in fine form, topping La Liga and romping to a 4-0 victory at Bursaspor in their opening Group C encounter, prompting a personal check from the United manager during Wednesday's domestic clash with Atletico Madrid. "He had to make some priorities and he chose that he wouldn't come to this game; he would leave it to his other people to do," Phelan told Sky Sports. "It's important, after drawing the Rangers game, that we prepare properly and we get a good view of Valencia, who've started their season very well". Sir Alex's absence left Phelan in charge of the Reds' third round clash at Glanford Park, and he was delighted to see a host of action-starved players gel well against an impressive Scunthorpe side.

Scunthorpe United 2 Manchester United 5 Carling cup report

Scunthorpe United 2 Manchester United 5 report

United initially had a scare early on as Scunthorpe took the lead but they fired level shortly afterwards and then romped to victory with goals from midfielders Ji Sung Park and Darren Gibson, a first goal for Chris Smalling and a double from Michael Owen put Scunthorpe to the sword and gave them nothing but the opportunity to get a consolation goal in the last minute.

It was again a case of another competition, another team for the Reds with every player from Sunday’s win over Liverpool rested. Still there were nine senior internationals in the eleven – plenty of quality to open a new quest for silverware and to excite the sell-out 9,000-plus crowd at Scunthorpe’s Glanford Park. But the home fans were off their seats for one of their own players inside the first thirty seconds when striker Jonathan Forte forced his way into the area, albeit without testing Kuszczak. The win sees United march on into the 4th round.

Bebe expected to make his Manchester United debut tonight

Bebe expected to make his Manchester United debut tonight

Portugese signing Bebe is to get his first chance of action tonight in the Scunthorpe game. A extraordinary signing as United boss Sir Alex had never even seen him play on video and most of his competitive matches had been played in the Portugese third division and he has never played any top flight football.

The battered life story which then emerged of the 20-year-old Tiago Manuel Dias Correia, nicknamed BebĂ©, added a rags-to-riches, Oliver Twist romance to a unique football rise. A confident quote from the player: "I am going to be a brilliant player for Manchester United." Fans will get their first glimpse this evening at Glanford Park. United splashed out £7.4 million in the summer and tonight sees his first chance of repaying the fee.

Paul Scholes on Manchester Uniteds thirst for more Carling Cup glory

United kickoff their defence of the Carling Cup tonight at Scunthorpe United. Last season marked a historic first for the club, retaining a cup trophy for the first time ever and Paul Scholes says the the team have every intention of retaining it again as they travel to Glanford Park.

"Last year we wanted to win it and it's the same this season," said the midfielder. "That's what you set out to do at the start of the competition. You get high intensity games in the Carling Cup. Maybe in other countries, cup competitions are not as important. Here you want to win every game. Going to Scunthorpe will be difficult. They are a good team at home and anything can happen at places like that. I hope we can get through this round and hopefully there is a nice Wembley final at the end." The match tonight sees sir Alex Ferguson fielding a number of younger players who will be getting the run out they don't normally get in other games.

Sir Alex Ferguson on young blood for the Carling cup

Sir Alex Ferguson on young blood for the Carling cup

Tomorrow sees another Carling cup campaign and another chance for the manager to give squad members who don't get much of a run in the first team a chance to impress. United have won the last 2 campaigns beating Aston Villa, last year and Tottenham, the year before on penalties.

"We played a lot of young players last season and they all acquitted themselves well," Sir Alex told ManUtd.com. "We’ll do the same tomorrow at Scunthorpe. A lot of my young players will play. Bebe is training very well. He’ll be involved tomorrow night. Federico Macheda will as well. The Carling Cup’s served us well over the last few seasons - it allows me to keep everybody happy in terms of giving people games and we’ve reached the last two finals, which has its obvious advantages. Playing at Wembley and competing for medals on the big stage is terrific for players’ development." United travel to Scunthorpe tomorrow night and kick off is at 7:45pm B.S.T.

Berbatov reveals the reason behind his revival

Berbatov reveals the reason behind his revival

United striker Dimitar Berbatov has revealed why he has fired ahead this season and improved on his first 2 seasons which he admits were disappointing. It is largely down to a punishing summer of training he says and he says now he believes everything is coming right and fitting into place.

Berbatov, 29, said: "I was disappointed with myself that I could not please all the supporters. I've said before, the people of Manchester United are the judges and that is the way it should be. It's their team. I am a guest - a privileged guest. Now I feel like everything I imagine on the pitch will come true and that feels awesome. I have worked hard on my fitness. So hard. I'm not a weights guy, I'm sure you can see by my body. But I have been trying to even work on that. I ran six miles every day during the off season. I watched one World Cup match, went for a run, then watched another and went for another run. This was my routine." United fans will surely be excited at the prospect of more fine performances from him like the one against Liverpool.

Manchester United 3 Liverpool 2 match report

Manchester United 3 Liverpool 2 match report

Dimitar Berbatov goes from strength to strength this season and yesterday flattened Liverpool at Old Trafford with a well taken hat-trick and 3 fine goals, the second of which was quite unbelievable in it's skill and execution. It wasn't all a walk in the park tho as after building a 2 goal lead, United were pegged back by penalty and free kick goals by Liverpool who made it 2-2 only for Berbatov to pop up again to assure the 3 points to United.

United went into the break with a goal lead, through Berbatov’s header, the forward having effortlessly eluded Fernando Torres to connect with Ryan Giggs’s corner. They then made it 2 after a sublime piece of skill from Berbatov who, with his back to goal, hooked the ball over his shoulder and put it in off the crossbar. Within 10 minutes of this tho Liverpool drew level after United players brought down Torres in the box and just outside it and Gerrard dispatched the resulting penalty and free kick. Berbatov however lept to rescue United in the last 10 minutes, heading a O' Shea cross in. So a glorious victory for United although they let another 2 goal lead slip, just like they had in previous fixtures against Fulham, and Everton. So there seems to be frailties in defence but Berbatov is on fire at the moment which is a really exciting prospect.

Watch Manchester United vs Liverpool match highlights

Watch Manchester United vs Liverpool match highlights

Today sees the reds of Manchester and the reds of Liverpool lock horns in undoubtedly English Football's biggest fixture. Both clubs being virtually neck and neck in their all time trophy success and on par with league title success, both clubs having won 18, the pressure is on both clubs to see who can make the new unprecedented record of 19.

The fixture has also sparked a lot of controversy in recent times. Wayne Rooney's famous strike at Anfield and in turn almost being struck by a mobile phone at his celebration and Gary Neville kissing and holding the United crest in front of Liverpool supporters after a last minute win for the club at Old Trafford 5 years ago. The match sees Roy Hodgson at the helm for his first experience of the fixture and he will be hoping he makes a good start. Alex Ferguson on the other hand will be looking to get the psychological upperhand on them and also keep up with Chelsea who again are storming away at the top of the league.

Sir Alex Ferguson on Manchester United vs Liverpool games

Sir Alex Ferguson on Manchester United vs Liverpool games

Sir Alex has stressed again how this is the most important fixture in the United calendar. The 2 clubs are virtually neck and neck in their roll of honours and success and that fuels the colossal rivalry along with the regional hostility between many mancunians and merseysiders.

Being interviewed he said "I may sound like a parrot sometimes because I say this time and time again but this is the fixture. And the form in these fixtures fluctuates quite a bit. There was a period for about five years [in the late 90s] when we hardly lost and then recently they won a few in a row. We won the last game [in March 2010], so hopefully that swings it back in our favour again."

Although Liverpool played a Europa League tie on Thursday night, Sir Alex doesn’t expect any sizable advantage from an extra two days’ rest. He added "Liverpool rested players on Thursday so it doesn’t really matter. Both teams will be well prepared for the game. We’re looking forward to it."

Dimitar Berbatov back in the Manchester United lineup for Liverpool Match

Dimitar Berbatov back in the Manchester United lineup for Liverpool Match

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed Dimitar Berbatov will play against Liverpool on Sunday and has reiterated his faith in the striker who since his move to Manchester United from Tottenham has had certain areas of the media question whether he was cut out to be a great player for United. The bulgarian has been in hot form this season bagging four goals in 5 games.

"Not everyone’s questioned him," Sir Alex reminded the press on Friday morning. "He has a lot of admirers, particularly within this club. "When we buy a player for a lot of money there’s more focus on them. When they have a bad game they get criticism other players might not get. Dimitar’s had some marvellous games for us. I’ve told him he has to dismiss the press."

The boss reiterated that everyone else in the team is fit to play against Liverpool on Sunday and so the club are at full strength for the first big test of the campaign.
