Manchester United 3 Liverpool 2 match report

Manchester United 3 Liverpool 2 match report

Dimitar Berbatov goes from strength to strength this season and yesterday flattened Liverpool at Old Trafford with a well taken hat-trick and 3 fine goals, the second of which was quite unbelievable in it's skill and execution. It wasn't all a walk in the park tho as after building a 2 goal lead, United were pegged back by penalty and free kick goals by Liverpool who made it 2-2 only for Berbatov to pop up again to assure the 3 points to United.

United went into the break with a goal lead, through Berbatov’s header, the forward having effortlessly eluded Fernando Torres to connect with Ryan Giggs’s corner. They then made it 2 after a sublime piece of skill from Berbatov who, with his back to goal, hooked the ball over his shoulder and put it in off the crossbar. Within 10 minutes of this tho Liverpool drew level after United players brought down Torres in the box and just outside it and Gerrard dispatched the resulting penalty and free kick. Berbatov however lept to rescue United in the last 10 minutes, heading a O' Shea cross in. So a glorious victory for United although they let another 2 goal lead slip, just like they had in previous fixtures against Fulham, and Everton. So there seems to be frailties in defence but Berbatov is on fire at the moment which is a really exciting prospect.
